He brings a wealth of knowledge for therapy in ocular surface disease, severe dry eyes, Fuchs’ dystrophy, keratoconus, and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS). In glaucoma surgery, Dr. Hou specializes in ab-interno canaloplasty (ABiC), a procedure which opens up the natural outflow channels of the eye to restore normal aqueous flow, without damaging tissue or leaving behind a device in the eye.
Outside of work, Dr. Hou spends a lot of time with his wife Alicia Alvarez, who is also a physician in Allergy and Immunology. They enjoy traveling, hiking, and cooking together. They had their honeymoon on Anna Maria Island and are excited to be living in Florida.
