William H. McSwain, M.D.

Board-certified ophthalmologist Dr. William H. McSwain was born and raised in Bradenton and graduated from Bradenton Christian School. He is a fifth generation physician in his family in a direct line going back to his great-great grandfather. After receiving the Outstanding Senior Award and graduating summa cum laude from Stetson University, he earned his medical degree from Vanderbilt University. Following a medical internship at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington, he completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Arizona. There he received the Academic Merit Award, was elected to the Ophthalmic Knowledge Honor Roll, and served as chief resident.
Dr. McSwain is trained in and practices all disciplines of comprehensive ophthalmology. He has a particular interest in cataract surgery, eyelid surgery, dry eyes, blepharitis, and glaucoma. He is happy to be back in Bradenton serving the community in which he grew up.
